Today's challenge is hunting for figurative language in your favorite music!
Pick a song (or two) that you enjoy and find 3-5 different types of figurative language the artist(s) included. Give a brief description of what type of figurative language it is. Send me an email with your answers. Here is an example (a worksheet WITH answers) to show what I'm looking for. Happy figurative language hunting! Today I'd like you to join in on that Zoom meeting! Please check parent email associated with Powerschool for access to our meeting.
Today could be a perfect day to make a solar oven. If you've been doing your science reading, you know about insulators and conductors. Put your knowledge to use!
You can make this at any time of the day, as long as the sun is shining. It doesn't have to be warm out. Use this Solar Oven activity, share your results to my email [email protected] or my instagram @mrsphifercarter Before we left, 6th graders were studying the US in social studies. Do you know your state capitals? I've included two versions of a state capital puzzle. One is VERY hard and includes all 50 states, the other is a little more simple (and has a bold line that indicates the outside border of the puzzle to get you started).
Give one or both a try! Use the internet if you need help with your capitals and let me know how you do! Standard puzzle Challenging puzzle Most of you know that even though I teach ELA and science, math is actually my favorite subject!
Try out this math puzzle worksheet today. Here's a fun little game you can play!
Choose an object around your house and write a detailed description about its appearance. Then, have a family member (or FaceTime/Skype a friend) and have that person draw what they think the object is based on your description. Once they are finished, show them the object and see how close it matches to their drawing! Take a picture of the drawing and the object and tag me on Instagram @mrsphifercarter OR you can even post your description below and I will draw it myself! Good luck! Email me! You can tell me how you are doing and how you've been keeping yourself busy. What are you doing to continue your education and how are you having fun? Tell me about anything you want. I look forward to seeing your messages in my inbox.
Put "Daily Challenge" in the subject line Here's a proper email format: Dear Mrs. Phifer, {Body - this is where your message goes, you do not need to indent in an email. Skip a line for a new paragraph} {Closing,} {Your name} Today's challenge is a science activity. ANY students can do this, ANY class, ANY grade.
You are going to go to this states of matter simulation and click Run Now (your browser might say Download) Download this worksheet When you are finished, post your answer for question number 4 below: Write a summary paragraph to demonstrate you have mastered the learning goal. Be sure to incorporate both concepts of the learning goal:
You can take a photo of your worksheet and email it to me at [email protected] It's not too late to go back and do yesterday's limerick challenge! Have a great Wednesday. |
